News: Important Books to Look Forward to

First let me express my gratefulness to God for letting me represent the authors of the following three books. All three represent God at work in the lives of the writers, each in God’s distinctive way of helping them overcome huge disadvantages. These books represent apologetics, help for parents whose children are afflicted by autism, and God’s miraculous way of intervening in life’s desperate situations told in story form.

Thank God for Atheists: How the greatest skeptics led me to faith
By Timothy Morgan

“The greatest authors of atheism did more to push me toward belief in God than any Christian apologetic writer.” –Timothy Morgan

After a decade of major disappointments, Timothy Morgan was ready to reject God. Atheism offered an escape–an opportunity to dismiss God permanently. But as Morgan delved into the thinking of great atheists past and present, he was stunned. In book after book he found their reasons for rejecting God to be intellectually unfulfilling.

In Thank God for Atheists Timothy Morgan candidly shares his journey by letting atheists speak for themselves, examining their logic to see whether it holds up or not. Along the way, he deals with these key questions:

  • What are the key elements of the atheist worldview?
  • Who are the leading modern-day atheists, and what are they saying?
  • How can you effectively respond to atheism?

You’ll find this a personal and thoughtful book on why the evidence for God is much more compelling than the evidence against Him

Timothy Morgan has a B.A. in Professional Aviation from Louisiana Tech University (1993) and a Masters from Dallas Theological Seminary (1996).  He spent five years in pastoral ministry from 1996-2001 during which he hosted the “tough questions” section of Cru’s (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ) website, where people could ask questions about faith.  He also participated in “open mic” debates on faith on college campuses. He is currently a captain flying airplanes for a major air carrier.

Angel in Aisle 3
By Kevin West with Frederick Edwards

In the tradition of An Invisible Thread and Same Kind of Different as Me, Angel in Aisle 3 is the heartwarming true story of an unlikely friendship that began with a meeting in a grocery store between a bank executive bound for prison and an elderly, apparently homeless man off the street.

Kevin West, temporarily managing his own small grocery store, knew he was headed for prison as a recent bank vice-president. His marriage was extremely rocky when into his store came a older man in tattered shirt and pants and unkempt beard asking for basic groceries. While Kevin generously gathered a bag of groceries, the visitor spied an open Bible. When Kevin returned, the visitor commented, “Did you know you can find Jesus throughout the Bible?” That comment became the foundation for a remarkable Bible study between Don, a man down on his luck, and Kevin. Over time it transformed both of them, as told in this inspirational book on Kevin’s relationship with Don, who Kevin for several weeks suspected was actually an angel.

Kevin West recently served as executive pastor of Christ Temple Church in Huntingdon, West Virginia. He is now president of Kevin West Ministries and Expression Ministries Network. He can be heard on his own daily radio program, “Real Life with Kevin West” and on his hour-long program, “Morning Shift with Kevin West: Renewing Your Thoughts and Transforming Your Life.”

Frederick Edwards holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Bowling Green State University, and an MA in English from Marshall University. He has taught writing in universities and private schools and has been a guest lecturer at Kentucky’s Jesse Stuart Writing Workshop.
